Welcome to the RSPCA Chelmsford, Brentwood & Mid Essex Branch

Like all the other 170 plus RSPCA branches we are separate from the National Headquarters and are a self funding charity, our own charity number, 210634.

The Branch Committee, consisting of a Chairman, a Treasurer, a Secretary and a number of Trustees, is responsible for the general management of all the affairs of the branch including financial control.

We work under a set of instructions set out by the National Headquarters but the Branch Committee controls all aspects of the day to day running of the branch. We also support the work of the local Inspectors and Animal Collection Officers whenever asked.

All RSPCA local branches choose how they wish to support animal welfare in their own area. Due to the high cost of veterinary services, our branch chose to open a subsidised Veterinary Clinic to provide veterinary care to all animals in our branch area whose owners were on a means tested benefit.

The funds required to operate the running of the clinic come from what each client pays plus the proceeds of our Charity Shop in Moulsham Street in Chelmsford. We are not funded by the National RSPCA, but we do get a share of the proceeds of the national fundraising campaign they run each year.
