Cat Fostering

We need fosterers for catsFrom time to time we accept cats brought in by the local Inspector or Animal Collection Officer, who need veterinary treatment. Once the animal is fit and well again we try to pass it on to either the Cat Protection League in Chelmsford or to the RSPCA at Danaher for re-homing.

If both these centres are full we then “foster” this cat with an approved member of the public until we can get it accepted at either re-homing centre, as part of the scheme we provide food and any necessary veterinary treatment. The animal remains our property and responsibility until re-homed. If you would like more details of the cat fostering scheme please contact our clinic on 01245 478886.

If you are looking for a cat as a family pet please check with our Clinic, all cats that we have with fosterers are available for adoption, after a satisfactory “Home Check”. Generally these cats are adults of various ages but will have been thoroughly checked out by our vet. In some cases they may be more “mature” i.e. older cats but they still make great family pets particularly for single people or elderly couples. We always try very hard to match the wishes of the adopter and the particular needs of the cat.
